Volunteers

Hours & Check-In

Volunteer hours are available Monday, Tuesday, Friday & Saturday, from 10 AM to 3 PM, with flexible scheduling to accommodate your availability. 


Upon arrival, volunteers are asked to check in by name using our on-site iPad and check out when departing. If you need confirmation of your community service hours, please don’t hesitate to ask one of our Directors, and we will be happy to sign off on them.

Volunteer Tasks

Volunteers will assist with a variety of tasks, including assembling Blessing Boxes for our drive-up service, stocking and organizing food supplies, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation, offering exceptional customer service, and helping visitors with application guidance. Additionally, you may assist with food distribution and other operational needs.

Eligibility Guidelines:
High-school juniors and seniors (ages 16-18) and college students interested in logistics, nonprofit work, or community service. No prior experience is required, but applicants should have a passion for helping others and a strong work ethic.


Example Goals:

  • Learn the operational aspects of a food pantry, including inventory management, food safety, and distribution.
  • Develop leadership skills by managing food drives and overseeing volunteer efforts.
  • Gain insight into nonprofit logistics and community support.


Guidelines for Instruction:
Weekly supervision by the Volunteer Coordinator, along with hands-on training in food handling, safety regulations, and logistics. Students will have the opportunity to lead specific tasks under guidance.


Organization’s Goals:
Support the mission of Manna Joseph Storehouse to provide food and essential supplies to low-income families by training interns in efficient stocking and distribution methods.


Internship Type:
Nonprofit, unpaid.
Flexible hours to accommodate student schedules.


Length and Hours:
8-12 weeks, 8-12 hours per week, flexible to school schedules.


Duties:

  • Assist with receiving and organizing food donations.
  • Manage inventory, ensure food safety protocols are followed, and oversee packing and distribution to families.
  • Coordinate and participate in food distribution, assisting with outreach efforts.


Qualifications:

  • High-school or college students with organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift and move boxes (physical requirements).
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a team environment.



Preferred Majors/Fields of Study:
Public health, nonprofit management, logistics, social work, business.


Training Provided:
Training on food safety standards, inventory management, and distribution protocols.

Administration & Partnership Coordination Internship

Eligibility Guidelines:
Open to high-school and college students interested in nonprofit management, social services, or education. Applicants should demonstrate strong organizational skills and a passion for supporting low-income families.


Example Goals:

  • Gain experience in managing a clothing pantry, including sorting donations and assisting families.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local schools to provide essential uniforms and supplies.
  • Strengthen relationships with schools and community organizations to expand outreach efforts.


Guidelines for Instruction:
Weekly meetings with the Program Coordinator and hands-on involvement in school partnerships. On-the-job training will be provided for event coordination and community engagement.


Organization’s Goals:
Ensure families have access to quality clothing and necessary resources through well-managed partnerships with schools and community organizations.


Internship Type:
Nonprofit, unpaid. Flexible hours to accommodate student schedules.


Length and Hours:
8-10 weeks, 6-10 hours per week, flexible to accommodate student schedules.


Duties:

  • Assist in organizing clothing donations and ensuring items are suitable for distribution.
  • Coordinate with schools to distribute  supplies, and help organize events such as clothing drives or donation pickups.
  • Work with school staff and community partners to ensure successful collaborations.


Qualifications:

  • High-school or college student with a detail-oriented mindset and a passion for helping families and students.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with families, school personnel, and community partners.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and manage small events.


Preferred Majors/Fields of Study:
Nonprofit management, social work, education, community development.


Training Provided:
Training in donation management, event planning, and partnership coordination.

Submit a brief essay outlining your interest in nonprofit administration and partnership coordination, along with a reference from a teacher or community leader.

Social Media & Marketing Internship

Eligibility Guidelines:
High-school and college students with an interest in digital media, marketing, or communications. Applicants should have basic knowledge of social media platforms and a desire to build nonprofit marketing skills.


Example Goals:

  • Develop a social media content strategy to increase community awareness of Manna Joseph Storehouse.
  • Create engaging posts that highlight the organization’s services, impact stories, and upcoming events.
  • Learn about digital marketing strategies that drive engagement and support for nonprofit organizations.


Guidelines for Instruction:
Weekly check-ins with the Marketing Coordinator, along with guided instruction on content creation, social media management, and digital marketing techniques.


Organization’s Goals:
To increase visibility and engagement for Manna Joseph Storehouse by using social media platforms to highlight services, community stories, and upcoming events.


Internship Type:
Marketing/Communications, unpaid.
Flexible hours to accommodate student schedules, with the potential for remote work.


Length and Hours:
10 weeks, 5-8 hours per week flexible to school schedules.


Duties:

  • Create content for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.), including posts, stories, and community updates.
  • Assist in managing social media calendars and scheduling posts.
  • Work on developing and executing campaigns that engage donors, volunteers, and the community.
  • Analyze social media performance and suggest improvements for engagement.


Qualifications:

  • High-school or college student with basic skills in social media content creation.
  • Good written communication and creativity.
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms and a desire to learn more about nonprofit marketing.


Preferred Majors/Fields of Study:
Marketing, communications, digital media, journalism, nonprofit management.


Training Provided:
Training on content strategy, social media best practices, and performance analysis.


Application:
Submit a portfolio of any previous work on social media (optional) and a cover letter explaining why you want to work in nonprofit marketing.
